Can I replace the roof without removing the frame?
Usually yes — most post-2000 conservatories can take a new warm or tiled roof on the existing frame. A structural survey must confirm that the frame and foundations are suitable; older frames may need extra support.
Do I need building regulations approval?
A solid or tiled conversion will normally need building-control approval because it changes the roof load and thermal performance. Requirements vary by property and UK nation, so confirm them before work starts. Like-for-like glazing repairs may be treated differently.
How long does it take?
Most replacements take 2–7 days depending on the roof type, size, weather and internal finish — far less disruptive than a full extension.
Glass or solid — which is right for me?
Solid and tiled roofs give the best insulation and a room-like internal finish; glass keeps the most daylight. A hybrid combines insulated sections with glazing.
